A five year old girl was taken to hospital following an accident at Lightwater Valley. The girl sustained ligament and cartilage damage to her ankle whilst riding The Ladybird roller coaster on June 5th. A spokesman for the HSE confirmed they were called to an incident at the theme park and said investigations were ongoing.
Speaking with Ripon Gazette, Lightwater Valley General Manager, Mark Bainbridge, said: "The girl put her foot outside the carriage and it became trapped between the carriage and the platform when it came back in to stop.
"We called an ambulance and the girl was taken to hospital, and informed the Health and Safety Executive of an accident on site."
Valley Mania understand that the girl has since had surgery to repair the damage to her ankle and looks to be well on the road to a full recovery. We will keep you updated on this story once investigations have concluded.
