This five legged sea creature of Lightwater Valley was a fun family ride. The Octopus was brightly coloured and decorated in numerous light bulbs which gave off the fairground ride appearance.
Riders sat in little fish cars that were attached to one of the five legs of The Octopus. As the ride started off, the fish were swung in and out, dodging one another. The arms then began to rise a few feet, lifting passengers in their little fish. The ride was quite fun at this point and was exciting for the younger ones.
After some time weaving about the fish would begin to lower and slow down for you to leave! The ride had no real theme and quite basically looked out of place. People were glad to see The Octopus go back where it came from.
Overall The Octopus never looked settled at Lightwater Valley and is not missed by many!
The Octopus was manufactured by ARM rides and was brought to the park in 2005 to replace the outgoing Orbiter. The ride seated upto 40 people with 20 fish in total.
It originally sat at the park entrance until been relocated next to the Black Widows Web in 2006. The Octopus was not owned by Lightwater Valley but rented from R & J Leisure Ltd. The lease was up at the end of the 2006 season and returned to its owner!
