Review

Soopa Loopa is one of Lightwater Valley's most memorable rides and is now sadly missed by many people. At the time, this was Britain's only double loop rollercoaster, proving a real crowd puller for the park.

Some riders were lucky if they were able to grab the backward seats, these were in the last car which had been modified so that two seats were switched around. The train would leave the station and turn up onto the lift hill and fall down a swooping 60ft drop. Passengers would be sent upside down, not once but twice as the train careers up the 360 degree loops. This was the most intense part of the ride and would have passengers screaming!

Leaving the 2nd loop the train would find its way around twisting corners, steadily declining down and returning back into the station. The Soopa Loopa would turn your world upside down!

Overall this was a major ride at Lightwater Valley and was a living legend during its time there.

History

Soopa Loopa was manufactured by Soquet and operated at Lightwater Valley between the years of 1988 and 1994. The ride was sold back to Soquet to help pay for the Falls of Terror which would be installed next season.

There were also other factors behind its removal, its location was difficult for emergency vehicles to access and the ride was becoming less and less reliable, ending its 6 year stay at the park.

Soquet then sold the ride to Granada Theme Parks who placed the ride at American Adventure where it had a repaint and a new name of 'Twin Looper'. Due to the park's closure, the ride was sold off to Silesian Amusement Park in Poland.
