Spiders are not everyone's favourite insect but this one will certainly have you wanting more! The black widow has spun her web for all you thrill seekers out there!
Riders sit inside individual gondolas in this spin-sensation ride, which really puts the test to your nausea limit. The cage door is shut on your gondola and the ride begins, the ride starts flat on the ground and slowly begins to rotate clockwise, picking up speed and forcing your car outwards. Whilst spinning the large central arm then raises the widow's web up, taking the ride to a vertical position.
Going completely upside down, you will feel unsafe, good you should be! However, your body weight and the force against it are just about equal, so this results in the riders feeling weightlessness or double their weight throughout the ride, but perfectly kept safe in their seat. Feeling sick now, you just want the ride to stop. After a number of rotations the arm begins to lower the web and back into the stop position, relief.
Black Widows Web isn't much of a themed ride, just an average enterprise mounted onto a platform. The ride is nothing spectacular but a good average flat ride with many thrills. Black Widows Web is certainly as scary as the insect!
Overall Black Widows Web is a smooth thrilling ride. However, if you suffer from motion sickness, keep away from this spider!
The Black Widow was born at Huss rides and was brought to the park in 2001. The standard Huss Enterprise has 20 cars seating 2 in each, giving it a total capacity of 40 people per cycle. The web is 56ft in diameter and has no lap bars whatsoever, just good old centripetal force keeping you in!
The ride used to operate under a strict double riders only rule until it was abolished in the 2009 season following changes to the ride's height restrictions.
