The Caterpillar Coaster is another great family ride at Lightwater Valley and this one is up with the best. In the eyes of a thrill seeker this ride won't seem much but in the eyes of a kid, The Caterpillar Coaster is full of fun.
The ride is quite excluded from the rest of the theme park, situated behind the Pub in the Wood. The ride could be considered to have theming with its huge flowers and petal lamps to decorate The Caterpillar Coaster, aswell as a caterpillar themed train. The surrounding area is nicely landscaped giving the attraction a permanent look despite its fairground origins.
People will board the caterpillar train and set off down a small drop right from the station. This will speed the train around the corner and onto the lift hill. Leaving the chain you will go through a red tunnel as the caterpillar munches its way through the yellow track. Going across a straight section of track and round a corner, the caterpillar will take riders down a very small drop and around the final corner.
The Caterpillar Coaster isn't quite finished yet as it decides to go around the track a second time! It would be fair to say that The Caterpillar Coaster goes just as slow as the insect it is named affectionately after!
Overall The Caterpillar Coaster is an enjoyable children's rollercoaster that just keeps on munching!
The Pinfari Minicoaster Apple was constructed at Lightwater Valley ready for the 2003 season. The caterpillar train seats up to 24 passengers as the caterpillar is 6 carriages long.
The Caterpillar Coaster rests nearby the former legendary Batflyer site.
