The Grizzly Bear has been let loose at Lightwater Valley but has failed to meet standards of a Jaw Dropper. This rollercoaster will give you enjoyment, if you’re a kid that is!
Queuing up for the ride, you will pass under a nice wooden bear carved entrance and pass a few more grizzly bears! Up the station stairs where you will board your car, complete with the ride logo on the front. Pull down your restraint and then wait for the operator to send you off, literally! They will most probably give you a push!
Climbing the lift hill you can have a glance at the track in which you are about go round. The first drop is pretty much the whole ride, offering little airtime and the second drop is poor. Then it’s onto a lot of twists and turns. Making your way down the track, the Grizzly Bear picks up slight speed but then its over, with a sudden stop!
At this point you will most probably be disappointed, unless your kid! Down the exit ramp where you are greeted by another wooden bear. Theming on this ride is ok by Lightwater Valley standards but whole ride concept is let down by the poor track layout.
Overall The Grizzly Bear is as grizzly as it looks!
In 2004 The Grizzly Bear settled down on the former Beaver Rapids site, despite the opening date being originally planned for 2003.
Manufactured by Italian company Pinfari, the ride was re-located from Spanish City Amusement Park as the Cyclone. The cars hold 4 passengers each and there is a total of 4 cars on the track, 2 in the station at all times.
