Does exactly what it says in the name! This spinning rollercoaster is a must ride for all the family. Riders will board a strangely looking creature-themed car which is similarly shaped like a waltzer, ready to set off on a spin-sensational journey.
Moving out of the station you turn the corner onto the green track, supported by orange supports and up onto the chain lift. You are then released from the chain and then our good friend gravity takes over! The top section of track is full of tight turns with a small decline, a few more tight turns and onto a small drop and back up. Around the corner and then down the biggest drop on the ride, smile for the camera! This where the ride gets a little bit more dizzy, infact a lot more dizzy!
Following on from the drop you turn 2 more corners and then the spinning begins. Very similar to the top section of the track, you have tight turns but with a spin. Making your way down the track, you whirl around another tight corner. Still spinning you make it onto a small bunny hop, round the final corner and back into the station!
Slightly dizzy you will stumble your way out of the exit path and turn left to the photo booth and have a good laugh at your picture! Theming on this ride is minimal but the surrounding area is beautifully landscaped with different variations of planting.
Overall The Twister is a great family rollercoaster that will leave your head spinning!
Originally named The Treetop Twister, this Reverchon spinning mouse rollercoaster was added to Lightwater Valley for the 2001 season. The ride pulled in big queues, as well as 2.5 G's, but this is due to the rides poor throughput rather substantial popularity.
Unfortunately, the ride made the news for all the wrong reasons in June 2001 after faulty wiring caused a collision between 2 cars, which sadly cost a girl her life. This was a huge blow to the park’s reputation and finances as the ride had only been open for just over a month. In October 2004 it was ruled death by misadventure.
