Review

Everyone loves a good pirate ship and Lightwater Valley’s is no let down. The Wave is the biggest pirate ship in the UK and is by far the best landscaped one too.

Situated at the back of the Grizzly Bear, The Wave is quite isolated from the rest of the busy theme park. Hidden between the trees, The Wave looks spectacular as it swings above them. The boat has a huge golden eagle at one end, which holds a daunting spike. This is one pirate ship not to be messed with!

The area around looks stunning with its pond and waterfall, creating a nice pleasant atmosphere and offers a lot of shade from the weather. The ride itself is what you would expect of a typical pirate ship, however this one takes things further up.

Swinging backwards and forwards, higher and higher, riders may suffer some nausea as your body is swung yet your stomach, left behind. After a number of swings the ride comes to a slow stop. The golden lap bar lifts up to allow you buccaneers off this stomach wrenching ride.

Overall The Wave is a good thrill ride that shows the days when Lightwater Valley used to landscape rides to their full potential. This pirate ship is a real wave battler!

History

The Wave was another success in Lightwater Valley’s history, given them another record. The UK’s biggest pirate ship! Manufactured by Zamperla, the ride was giving its home in 1990.

Enthusiasts have concerns that ride doesn’t get the popularity it deserves due to its isolated location. However, there have been rumours that the ride will be relocated.
